CUSTOMER CARE
The Churches’ Bookshop is the Isle of Man’s only Christian bookshop. For over 50 years now, it has been maintained by a small but dedicated team of volunteers who do their best to assist customers and ensure the bookshop remains open six hours a day, five days a week. Due to the limited size of the team, the bookshop does occasionally have to close on short notice due to illness or family affairs.
If you would like to reassure yourself that we are open on a particular day, you can contact us at:

+44 (0) 1624 621593
[email protected]

Due to the bookshop’s limited finances, the manager is usually only available on Fridays, 10AM-4PM. The manager handles stock and customer orders, event enquiries, and promotional materials.

BOOK STALL INQUIRIES
The Churches’ Bookshop works with churches and event organisers across the island by providing book stalls.

Church Book Stalls
The church book stalls require a contact person, usually at the church, who is happy to monitor stock and payments. Payments will usually be taken in cash, through an honesty box or through the contact person.
To set up a church bookstall, the contact person will be required to:

  1. Contact the manager of the Churches’ Bookshop at [email protected] to inform the manager of their wish to incorporate a book stall at their church. If the contact person is not the vicar, proof of consent from the vicar will be required to proceed.
  2. Determine what stock would be best suited for the church (cards, genres, gift items, etc.).
  3. Come to the Churches’ Bookshop to select appropriate stock for the book stall. This stock is provided on a sale-or-return basis. The contact person is required to keep an itinerary list, and to share this list with the bookshop upon request.
  4. Set up the book stall at the agreed church. This may be in the form of a small table with an honesty box, or by bringing the stock in to sell after services or other church events.
  5. Refresh the stock of the book stall every few weeks or months, as suitable for the church. To do this, the contact person must bring the itinerary list, the remaining stock, and any proceedings to the bookshop. At the bookshop, the proceedings will be confirmed against the itinerary list. If a pattern of negative discrepancies emerges, the bookshop may decide to discontinue the book stall.

The contact person will be responsible for maintaining the itinerary list and frequently checking that proceedings correspond to the itinerary.

Event Book Stalls
Event book stalls are usually manned by one or more of the bookshop’s volunteers, depending on availability. The volunteer will be responsible for managing the itinerary and any proceedings from the bookstall.
If you would like a bookstall for your event, please contact our manager at least four (4) weeks in advance at [email protected].

PAYMENT METHODS
The bookshop accepts the following payment methods:

  • Cash (in-store)
  • Credit/Debit Cards (in-store and online)
  • Cheque (in-store)
  • Gift Vouchers (in-store)
  • PayPal (online)

For invoices and outstanding payments, the bookshop also accepts bank transfers. The bookshop does not accept payment across phone.
